Dr. Casey Spencer
I grew up in Monticello, Illinois. I attended the University of Illinois for undergrad and went to Ross University for Veterinary school. Ross University is on the island of St. Kitts in the West Indies. I lived there for 2 ½ years and my favorite part was hiking the various mountains and volcanoes on the island.
During veterinary school I was a board member of a student run rescue on St. Kitts. We took in stray animals off the street, got them medical attention and found them loving homes. I was also involved in a local TNR (trap-neuter-return) program for the feral cat colonies.
During my semester breaks I enjoyed traveling. One break I went to Costa Rica to spay and neuter animals from underprivileged families. Another break was spent in Cambodia and Thailand to help care for bears that had been rescued from local bile farms.
My hobbies include volunteering for animal shelters and rescue groups, exploring the outdoors , cooking and baking as well as reading.
Along with my dog, Mona, and my two cats, Leroy and Rasta, I am usually fostering a kitty or two in my home until it finds a permanent home.
